‘Throwing shade at my kitten LOL’: Problematic ex-roommate accuses woman of adopting a calico cat solely because she owns a calico, 2 months after no contact

  • "You've gotta have a real deep-[seated] main character syndrome if you think you're the only person who could ever have a calico kitty."
  • "Ex-roommate mad I have the same breed of cat as her"

This happened to me a little while ago but this community is the best place to post these screenshots for a laugh.
  • For context me and this girl do not live together anymore and things did not end well with me moving out before our lease was
  • up. I got an apartment with my bf and he surprised me with a calico kitten (my childhood cat was a calico). This girl also has a calico. Clearly a popular breed.
  • After 2 months of not speaking she then proceeds to text me "asking if i'm well" whilst throwing shade at my kitten LOL

  • Hey I've been thinking about you a lot lately and hope you're doing great all settled into this next chapter of life with the new apartment and job and everything. I'm not gonna lie I've been racking my brain about what our next interaction would be or what I would like to say to you but it's hard to figure that out with all the built up tension between us over
  • time. I find it sad that we moved to a new city together and lived together for two years but now I feel so awkward even reaching out to you. I find it also very weird you bought a cat that looks so similar after moving out so I to wouldn't wanna be disingenuous about that either. Idk where I'm going with this but although I find it sad we've grown apart I hope you're doing great and thriving
  • hello, I have been very well, the job is great. I hope you've been well too. i also wondered what our first interaction would be- I definitely didn't expect you to message me about my cat? I'm not sure what you mean other than they are
  • calicos. got me this cat as a surprise gift i had no say in what she looked like/breed. i also find it sad we have grown apart but tbh it's exactly those types of comments that reinforce to me why i have distanced myself.
  • whothrowsachoux I might be totally misreading it, but this sounds like the sort of text you send an ex you miss
  • Suspicious_Orange_71 hahha this is so funny, i used to always say I sorta felt like her bf when i lived with her. Listening to her drama all day, her constantly texting me asking when im coming home/upset if i didnt wanna hang. It was genuinely exhausting.
  • Rubycon_ Lol how embarrassing for her. I imagine she makes a lot of things about herself unnecessarily
  • Suspicious_Orange_71 I could have made a post about my experience living with her on here but it would be too long. Just one example she told me she couldn't wash the dishes in the sink (vs putting them in a dishwasher) because she has trauma surrounding doing the dishes as a child
  • Cauzix you copy cat
  • MayorWolf You've gotta have a real deep seeded main character syndrome if you think you're the only person who could ever have a calico kitty
  • KharonsFerry "IDK where I'm going with this" kind of says it all. They were just ding to reach out to you but looking for a foot in the door. The cat issue is an odd one for sure. What a weirdo.
  • theblvckhorned It's one thing to have petty, insecure, and paranoid thoughts. It's a whole other ballgame when you have the confidence to casually accuse someone of insane sh thinking that it's perfectly reasonable.
  • corvuscorpussuvius Psychotic, glad you got away from that. Calicos are common and present in nearly every litter at least once. From personal experience on top of that, I can concur. I cannot recall witnessing a litter without one calico, tortie, or tortico.
  • If she doesn't look literally identical, then she's so trying to pick a fight with you. That is why she has had nothing else to say. She seems to enjoy looking for fights.
